In a strategic move aimed at both modernizing and expanding its fleet, Royal Jordanian (RJ) has officially received its first two Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, with the event being held under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Faisal Bin Al-Hussein.
As part of a broader plan to integrate eight of these advanced aircraft into its fleet, RJ seeks to enhance its services on short- and medium-range routes.
The Vice Chairman and CEO of RJ, Samer Majali, emphasized the crucial role these modern jets will play in the airline’s growth strategy for the Levant region during a tour of the newly acquired aircraft. Notably, the arrival of the Embraer E-Jets marks a pioneering achievement for the region.
“We’re looking forward to becoming the first E2 operator in the Middle East, supported by our trusted partners at Azorra,” stated Samer Majali. He added, “The E2 family of aircraft will support our strategic aims, complementing our larger narrow-body aircraft by matching capacity to demand, reducing operating costs and carbon emissions, while delivering a significant upgrade to passenger experience and comfort; underlining our status as the preferred airline in the region.”
With a primary focus on increasing frequencies to existing markets, RJ aims to adapt to evolving traveler demands while maintaining operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
The introduction of the Embraer 195 and 190-E2 regional aircraft comes as RJ celebrates its 60th anniversary, symbolizing a new era of modernization and expansion for the airline. Alongside the existing narrow-body A320 neo and wide-body Boeing 787-9 aircraft, RJ’s fleet is undergoing significant transformation, enabling the airline to expand its route network and establish connections with more destinations worldwide.
Despite facing regional challenges, Samer Majali expresses optimism about RJ’s future prospects. The airline is strategically oriented toward profitability and sustainability, positioning itself to navigate uncertainties and emerge stronger in the competitive aviation industry.
