Oman Air announces major transformation agenda

Over the upcoming 3-4 years, a program will be put into action with the intention of tackling ongoing losses and the accumulation of debt within the airline. This program is built upon four primary pillars: achieving financial sustainability, enhancing corporate governance, addressing commercial aspects, and optimizing human capital.

The initiative draws its foundation from recommendations provided by the internationally renowned management consulting firm, Oliver Wyman. This firm conducted a comprehensive evaluation of the airline’s financial and commercial performance, subsequently offering practical strategies to foster sustainable business operations. Additionally, Oman Air is set to undergo restructuring aimed at elevating its fundamental operational efficiency, thereby enabling it to better align with market demands.

Al Mawali highlighted the necessity of employing proficient specialists for the substantial and sustainable transformation of Oman Air. To this end, adjustments are planned for the current Board of Directors and Executive Management team in the upcoming months, facilitating the integration of exceptionally skilled experts, both domestic and international.

Regarding corporate governance, Al Mawali communicated the establishment of dedicated committees responsible for redefining governance pertaining to human, financial, and commercial resources, all operating under the umbrella of the Board of Directors. Simultaneously, global experts are reassessing the airline’s network, leading to determinations about the continuation of certain destinations. The integration with Salam Air also occupies a prominent place on the program’s agenda.
