Emirates SkyCargo expands its cargo , orders five more Boeing 777Fs
The largest international airline in the world’s cargo division, Emirates SkyCargo, has announced a firm order for an additional five Boeing 777 freighters, with delivery scheduled for early 2025 or 2026.
The airline will now have 315 wide-body aircraft on its order book overall owing to the US$1 billion order.
With consistently high load factors and tonnages above 2019 statistics, Emirates SkyCargo’s performance in the first quarter of its current fiscal year, 2024–25, has been outstanding, the report said.
Once the new aircraft enter in service, available main deck cargo capacity will increase by 30 percent, allowing the airline to deploy much-needed space into key markets, and better serve global customers.
“Demand for our world-class product and services is growing exponentially, further amplified by Dubai’s Economic Agenda which aims to double foreign trade and reinforce the city’s position as a global trading hub,” said H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive, Emirates Airline and Group.
He added, “The next phase of our strategy will include a full assessment for our future freighter fleet reviewing all aircraft options to ensure we are best equipped to respond to the evolving demands of the market and reaffirming our confidence in the role of airfreight and, more specifically, Emirates SkyCargo, in global trade.”
Emirates SkyCargo will retire aging freighters as a result of the staggered delivery of its new aircraft, reaffirming the airline’s commitment to running one of the youngest and most effective fleets in the sky.
By the end of 2025, Emirates will have 17 freighters in its fleet due to the conversion of 10 777-300ERs into freighters, in addition to the 10 Boeing 777Fs already under order.
With a fleet mix that includes 777s, 777-Fs, 747Fs, A350s, and A380s, the cargo business of Emirates will continue to enable the quick, dependable, and efficient transfer of goods around the globe while providing clients with greater flexibility.
