Dubai Unveils Dh350 Air Taxi Rides, Slashing Travel Time from 45 to 10 Minutes

Dubai is set to revolutionize urban transportation with the introduction of air taxis, offering residents a swift and scenic mode of travel across the city. Operated by US-based aviation firm Joby, these futuristic flying cabs are scheduled to commence operations by the end of 2025, promising to alleviate traffic congestion and provide an affordable commuting alternative.

With a cost of Dh350 per person, passengers can enjoy a bird’s-eye view of Dubai’s iconic skyline while traveling swiftly to their destinations. Joby’s air taxis, designed to accommodate four passengers and a pilot, boast ample storage space for luggage, ensuring a comfortable and convenient travel experience.

One of the most enticing features of air taxis is their ability to significantly reduce travel time. A journey from Dubai International Airport to Palm Jumeirah, which typically takes 45 minutes to an hour by road, can be completed in just 10 to 12 minutes via air taxi, according to estimates by Joby’s president of operations, Bonny Simi.

Aside from speed, air taxis prioritize comfort, convenience, and safety. Operating at altitudes of 500 to 1,000 meters, passengers can enjoy a serene flight with minimal noise disturbance. Pilots undergo rigorous training programs tailored to the aircraft, ensuring safe navigation throughout the journey.

Joby’s air taxis feature rapid charging capabilities, fully charging from 0 to 100 percent in just 10 minutes. With designated vertiports strategically located across Dubai, including Dubai Airport, Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Downtown, and Dubai Marina, passengers can easily access these innovative transportation services.
