Dubai International Airport is targeting a record-breaking milestone of over 90 million passengers by the conclusion of 2024, revealed Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority (DCAA), Chairman of Dubai Airports, and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group.
During a media briefing at the Dubai World Trade Centre, held alongside the 31st edition of the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2024, Sheikh Ahmed shared projections for the airport’s passenger traffic, aiming to surpass last year’s impressive figure of around 87 million passengers.
Underlining the necessity for a larger airport infrastructure to accommodate the surging air traffic, Sheikh Ahmed highlighted the pivotal role of Al Maktoum International Airport in facilitating the anticipated expansion of Dubai’s aviation sector over the next four decades.
This strategic development is in alignment with Dubai’s ambitious economic agenda, encapsulated in the Dubai Economic Agenda “D33,” which outlines 100 transformative projects and ambitious economic targets aimed at doubling Dubai’s economy within the next ten years. It also aims to consolidate Dubai’s position as one of the top three global cities.
Sheikh Ahmed emphasized the robust growth of Dubai’s economy in recent years and its progress towards realizing the objectives outlined in the Dubai Economic Agenda “D33.” He cited the resilience of various economic sectors, particularly aviation, travel, and tourism, as a testament to Dubai’s enduring status as a premier global hub for trade, commerce, and tourism.
