To fulfill the rising demand for air travel, Air India plans to add 600 flight and cabin crew members per month.

The Tata Group airline now has 122 aircraft in its fleet, but over the next four years, it aims to add 200 more. A large increase in the number of flight crew and cabin staff members will be necessary.

Air India Managing Director & CEO, Campbell Wilson reportedly told that the airline was currently employing at a rate of 550 cabin personnel and 50 pilots every month.

The information comes amid the ongoing Tata Group restructuring plan which will see the evolution of one major full service carrier and one low-cost subsidiary.

Supporting fleet and network growth

Over the following few years, Air India will add the aircraft to its fleet, increasing the need for additional qualified people.

The airline has made orders for 34 A350-1000 and six A350-900 wide-body aircraft from Boeing, as well as 140 A320neo and 70 A321neo single-aisle aircraft from Airbus.

The most recent generation of Airbus single-aisle aircraft includes the A320neo and A321neo. Compared to earlier generations of aircraft, they are more fuel-efficient and have a greater range.

The most recent wide-body aircraft from Boeing are the A350-1000 and A350-900. In addition, they use less fuel and have a greater range than earlier models of aircraft.

The new aircraft will be used by Air India on numerous routes, including long-haul flights to Australia and New Zealand as well as domestic flights inside India, international flights to Europe, the Middle East, and North America.

The airline also intends to introduce additional routes, such as travel to South America and Africa, using the new planes.

The acquisition of the new aircraft is a component of both Air India’s market strategy to become a more competitive airline and the Tata Group’s restructuring and growth ambition.

The international search for staff

India, the US, the UK, and Australia are just a few of the nations where Air India is now putting out job postings for pilots and cabin personnel.

The airline provides competitive pay and benefit packages, as well as training programs to assist new hires in getting up to speed.

Another indication that Air India is committed to improving things is the extensive foreign employment drive.

Years of financial losses have been incurred by the airline, but it is hoped that the new management team’s vision and the new fleet would hasten the company’s return to profitability and competitive posture.

There are other airlines hiring as well besides Air India. Other airlines have also made plans to hire new personnel in recent months. Another indication that the aviation industry is bouncing back from the COVID-19 outbreak is this.

Air India intends to invest in new technologies in addition to hiring pilots and cabin crew employees. The Indian airline intends to modernize both its IT and in-flight entertainment systems.

Additionally, as part of its network growth plan, existing routes will see more frequent flights as well as the inclusion of new ones.

Although Air India has experienced a number of historical difficulties, the Tata Group restructuring strategy is giving it positive impetus.
