Tadweer and Abu Dhabi Airports signs MoU to explore innovative waste management approaches

Tadweer, the Abu Dhabi Waste Management Company, and Abu Dhabi Airports have formalized their cooperation by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This partnership is designed to explore innovative waste management practices across Abu Dhabi’s five airports, with the ultimate goal of establishing a circular economy.

Under the terms of the MoU, Tadweer and Abu Dhabi Airports will work together to raise awareness about the implementation of comprehensive waste management solutions at the airports. This collaboration aims to increase the recycling of waste materials, create customized monitoring and reporting systems to enhance circularity within the airport ecosystem, and contribute to Abu Dhabi’s commitment to sustainable waste management.

Eng. Ali Al Dhaheri, CEO and Managing Director of Tadweer, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, emphasizing their dedication to reshaping waste management in the Emirate. He highlighted their alignment with the global shift towards a circular economy and the potential for this collaboration to drive a more sustainable and environmentally friendly future for Abu Dhabi.

Elena Sorlini, Managing Director & Interim CEO at Abu Dhabi Airports, emphasized the importance of enhancing knowledge and education on sustainability, waste management, and responsible practices, especially as the UAE prepares to host COP28 and designates 2023 as the Year of Sustainability. Through this partnership, they aim to realize their vision of promoting a circular economy throughout their ecosystem, particularly in Terminal A, and believe that Tadweer’s expertise will play a crucial role in achieving their environmental, social, and governance (ESG) objectives.
