Saudia, the national airline of Saudi Arabia, and Aegean Airlines, Greece’s flag carrier, have joined forces in a strategic partnership, enhancing connectivity and travel options for passengers. Effective from May 9th, the collaboration expands the networks of both airlines, allowing travelers to access a combined total of 156 destinations across 47 countries.

As part of the partnership, passengers will benefit from new route connections, with destinations such as Zagreb, Santorini, and Rhodes seamlessly integrated into Saudia’s extensive international network. Additionally, travelers will enjoy enhanced convenience, with the introduction of transit visas for up to 96 hours in Saudi Arabia, facilitated through an agreement with the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Arved Von Zur Muehlen, Chief Commercial Officer of Saudia, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, highlighting the opportunities it presents for travelers. He emphasized the convenience of seamless connections and the added benefits of digital transit visas and a reciprocal rewards program.

Yannis Rasoglou, Director of Network Planning and Airline Partnerships at Aegean Airlines, welcomed the partnership as a means of meeting increased customer demand and strengthening traffic between Saudi Arabia and Greece. He affirmed Aegean’s commitment to expanding its presence in Saudi Arabia, with plans for more year-round frequencies and upgraded aircraft in the coming years.

The collaboration between Saudia and Aegean Airlines comes at a time of significant growth in the aviation sector, with both airlines poised to contribute to Saudi Arabia’s ambitious tourism goals. With over 1.2 million pilgrims expected to embark on the Hajj pilgrimage, Saudia is gearing up for a busy season, operating at over 100 destinations with 150 aircraft.
