Jazeera launches ‘Flying Green – a Step towards Sustainable Aviation’

Jazeera’s strides in key Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) domains.

Following the GRI guidelines, the report outlines disclosures pertinent to shareholders, customers, employees, and the communities within which the airline operates.

Rohit Ramachandran, CEO of Jazeera Airways, expressed, “Sharing Jazeera Airways’ inaugural sustainability report fills me with immense pride. With a workforce of over 1,100 individuals facilitating the transport of over 3.6 million passengers annually across the Middle East, Central & South Asia, Africa, and Europe, our ethical, social, and environmental responsibilities as an organization are clear.”

Since its establishment in 2005, Jazeera has reached numerous business milestones and presently serves 66 destinations.

Ramachandran further noted, “Over the years, we’ve garnered the trust of our stakeholders, and as we continue our rapid expansion, we uphold our profound responsibility to our people and the planet. By issuing an open and transparent report on our environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance, our aim is to chart our present position and future path for our sustainability strategy.”

Key Report Highlights:

  1. Jazeera Airways is dedicated to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 through fuel-efficient operations and low-carbon fuel-powered aircraft. They currently operate 19 aircraft, including A320neos, reducing CO2 emissions and engine noise by 50%, while enhancing fuel efficiency by 18%.
  2. The airline is Kuwait’s first and the region’s initial Low-Cost Carrier (LCC) to implement the CHOOOSE climate compensation initiative, allowing passengers to offset their carbon impact.
  3. Obtaining necessary approvals from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Jazeera conducts in-house line and light maintenance to heighten efficiency, speed, and reliability.
  4. The airline has partnered with NAVBLUE for the full suite of Mission+ applications, an integrated platform designed for paperless cockpit operations, streamlining processes for pilots.
  5. Jazeera boasts robust governance, adhering to values and ethical business practices while managing its stakeholders.
  6. Certified as a Great Place to Work, Jazeera strives to offer an exceptional employee experience and amplify engagement.
  7. As part of their diversity, equity, and inclusion strategy, Jazeera is part of the IATA 25by2025 initiative, committing to elevate the proportion of women employees in underrepresented categories to 25% of the workforce.
