Flydubai has initiated a comprehensive retrofit project aimed at upgrading the cabin interior of the majority of its next-generation Boeing aircraft, with the multi-million dollar programme set to conclude by year-end.
Announced on Monday at the Arabian Travel Market, the retrofit project entails a complete makeover of the cabin interior, including the installation of lie-flat Business Class seats and new Recaro Economy seats to enhance passenger comfort and in-flight experience. The airline aims to ensure a cohesive and consistent travel experience across its fleet.
Since the launch of the retrofit project in January, eight aircraft have already undergone a full cabin transformation, with the remainder scheduled for completion in the coming months. In addition to in-flight entertainment, all retrofitted aircraft will feature upgraded amenities, reflecting Flydubai’s commitment to passenger satisfaction. Flydubai’s fleet, which currently comprises 29 Boeing 737-800, 54 737 MAX 8, and 3 737 MAX 9 aircraft, is expected to receive six additional aircraft by year-end, despite challenges in the supply chain causing delays in deliveries.
The airline’s efforts to enhance its cabin interiors come amid significant growth in operations, with nearly five million passengers flown this year until April 28, representing a 13% increase over the same period last year. With a network spanning over 125 destinations in 58 countries, Flydubai continues to expand its presence in Southeast Asia, Africa, and Europe, offering increased connectivity to passengers traveling to and from Dubai. Ghaith Al Ghaith, CEO of Flydubai, expressed optimism about the airline’s future prospects despite delivery delays, reaffirming its commitment to providing an elevated onboard experience for customers through the ongoing retrofit project.
