Dubai’s Aviation Future Unveiled by Paul Griffiths at Airport Show 2024

Paul Griffiths, the CEO of Dubai Airports, delivered a keynote address at the Global Leaders’ Forum (GALF), held as part of the 23rd edition of Airport Show in Dubai. He emphasized the significance of the expansion of Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC) for Dubai’s aviation landscape, asserting the emirate’s intention to maintain its position as the largest airport for international traffic for the next century.

Griffiths highlighted the monumental leap represented by the expansion project, which involves a substantial investment of AED 128 billion. He emphasized that this endeavor is not merely about constructing another airport but about shaping the future of air travel and reimagining the airport experience. The CEO expressed Dubai’s commitment to providing world-class infrastructure and experiences to its diverse and rapidly growing number of guests.

The expansion of Al Maktoum International Airport is expected to unlock new opportunities for travel, tourism, logistics, and trade globally. Griffiths expressed excitement about collaborating with partners and stakeholders on this transformative journey, ensuring that Dubai remains at the forefront of the aviation industry. Griffiths also addressed the importance of sustainability in aviation, acknowledging the challenges posed by the growth of the industry and the limited availability of sustainable aviation fuel. He emphasized the need for technical breakthroughs to enable alternative forms of energy for powering aerial vehicles.

Regarding future innovations, Griffiths speculated about the possibility of autonomous vehicles both in the air and on the ground, potentially revolutionizing transportation methods. He underscored the importance of sustainability and convenience as drivers of technological change in the aviation industry. The Airport Show, organized by RX, is being held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Dubai Airports, and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group. The event is supported by various entities, including the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority (DCAA), Dubai Airports, Dubai Aviation Engineering Projects (DAEP), Emirates Airline and Group, Dubai Air Navigation Services (dans), and dnata. Over 6,000 trade visitors and professionals are expected to attend the event, which showcases the latest advancements and trends in the aviation industry.
