Saudi Arabia Expands Air Links with China

New Routes to Boost Global Connectivity Starting April 16, 2024

The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) has granted permission to China Southern Airlines to initiate passenger and cargo services between Saudi Arabia and China. Starting from April 16, 2024, flights will operate from Beijing, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen to Riyadh.

During the summer 2024 schedule, there will be four weekly passenger flights and three weekly cargo flights connecting the two countries. This move aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Aviation Strategy aimed at doubling the Kingdom’s global connectivity by 2030.

Ali Mohammed Rajab, Executive Vice President for Air Transport and International Cooperation at GACA, commented on the decision, stating, “We welcome this new route announcement, which bolsters Saudi Arabia’s global connectivity and aligns with the objectives of the Saudi Aviation Strategy. This step enhances competitiveness in the aviation and tourism sectors and demonstrates our commitment to long-term growth and competitiveness.
